MODLAN separates records of origin from published datasets, restricted sources, and commercially aggregated leads. Every material field is designed to carry where it came from, when it was retrieved, how it may be used, and whether primary confirmation exists.
Official published dataset
May support a finding when version, timestamp and known limitations are preserved.
Credentialed / restricted source
May support a finding only under the documented permissible use for the matter.
Commercially aggregated lead
Lead only until primary-confirmed; never the sole basis for an adverse conclusion.
SOURCE FRESHNESS
A source can be online and still be wrong for today.
A source that still responds can still be stale. MODLAN records versions and retrieval context, monitors expected movement, and downgrades sources that become stale or structurally changed.
