MODLAN V86 · OBSERVABILITY II

Runtime truth must be correlated, bounded, and defensible.

V86 advances MODLAN from health indicators to governed observability: trace context, service-level indicators, alert quality, dependency mapping, tenant-safe telemetry and candidate-bound forensic reconstruction.

V86 DOCTRINE

Observability describes the system. It does not become the system.

Telemetry must remain privacy-aware, tenant-aware, source-bound, time-bounded and subordinate to authoritative operational records.

OBSERVABILITY ≠ AUTHORITY

A trace, metric, or log may describe an operation but never grants tenant, object, workflow, or evidence authority.

MEASURE ≠ CLAIM

An SLI measurement supports an operational statement only when its source, window, population, exclusions, and calculation are reconstructable.

CORRELATE ≠ EXPOSE

Correlation must use opaque identifiers and bounded metadata rather than copying protected business content into telemetry.

NO SOURCE ≠ HEALTHY

Missing or stale telemetry fails closed; absence of signal is not interpreted as successful operation.

ALERT ≠ INCIDENT

Alerts are detection evidence. Incident status remains governed by the authoritative response workflow.

OBSERVABILITY COMMAND CENTER

Trace the system without exposing the record.

Synthetic architecture only. This surface executes no production telemetry queries and stores no operational event data.

TRACE CONTEXT

Request Trace

Correlate an inbound request with downstream service and workflow activity without embedding protected payload content.

REQUIRED · trace id · span id · route class · service · candidate/buildDENY · raw claim, evidence, credential, or unrestricted request-body capture

ALERT QUALITY

Actionable

Every alert identifies the affected service/object class, owning team, severity rationale, and immediate operator action.

Alerting is evidence of detection—not authority to modify protected business state.
RELEASE / OPERATIONS GATE

TRACE CONTEXT

trace/span propagation · candidate binding · tenant-safe context

FAIL CLOSED · orphaned or payload-rich telemetry

DEPENDENCY + CORRELATION TOPOLOGY

See propagation. Preserve boundaries.

Runtime correlation follows operations across security, workflow, data, evidence, partner and response domains without turning telemetry into business authority.

ENTRY

Edge / Request

Correlate this domain with opaque identifiers, bounded labels, versioned instrumentation, and explicit retention. Do not embed protected customer/evidence payloads or infer authorization from telemetry presence.

FORENSIC RUNTIME RECONSTRUCTION

From symptom to evidence chain.

V86 defines the minimum sequence needed to explain what happened without overstating certainty.

LEGAL / SECURITY PRECISION

Telemetry is evidentiary support—not legal conclusion.

V86 runtime evidence may support internal investigation, security, reliability, release and audit decisions. It does not by itself establish legal liability, regulatory compliance, causation, customer authorization, or third-party certification. Protected claim, evidence, credential and unrestricted customer content is prohibited from routine telemetry.

Security Regression.

V87 can use the V84 test fabric and V86 correlation model to run systematic application, API, session, authorization, abuse, secret, dependency and secure-header regression gates.
