MODLAN V79 · RELIABILITY ENGINEERING

Enterprise systems should fail deliberately.

V79 gives the V78 workflow plane a reliability vocabulary for duplicate protection, bounded retry, queue failure, dependency isolation, degraded-mode behavior, workflow liveness, service-objective pressure, and controlled replay.

01

FAILURE IS A STATE

A dependency can be healthy, pressured, isolated, recovering, or verified. MODLAN makes that operating state explicit.

02

RETRY IS A POLICY

Retries are bounded, attributable, and limited to operations that are safe to retry. Infinite retry is not resilience.

03

RECOVERY PRESERVES TRACE

Replay and recovery retain correlation and disposition context so restoration does not erase the history of failure.

04

DEGRADED ≠ HEALTHY

Alternate behavior is labeled as degraded operation rather than silently presenting partial capability as normal service.

V79 · RELIABILITY COMMAND CENTER

See failure. Contain failure. Recover with evidence.

Exercise synthetic failure scenarios against MODLAN's reliability control vocabulary. This public surface generates no production traffic, writes no operational record, and connects to no customer environment.

Timeout pressure. Expected controls illuminate below so operators can reason about containment and recovery as a system rather than a collection of unrelated alerts.

CONTROL FABRIC

Eight controls. One operating doctrine.

V79 does not treat reliability features as independent switches. Each control participates in a failure lifecycle from detection through containment, deferred work, recovery, verification, and improvement.

EXECUTION · CRITICAL

Idempotency Guard

Same mutation key resolves once within the configured replay window.

FAILURE
Duplicate side effects / repeated transitions
RECOVERY
Return original result or reject conflicting replay
DEPENDENCY · HIGH

Bounded Retry Policy

Retry only retry-safe operations with capped exponential backoff and jitter.

FAILURE
Retry storm / duplicate mutation / dependency pressure
RECOVERY
Escalate to deferred or dead-letter state after budget exhaustion
CONTAINMENT · CRITICAL

Circuit Breaker

Open the circuit when dependency health crosses the configured threshold.

FAILURE
Cascading dependency failure
RECOVERY
Probe in half-open state before restoring normal traffic
QUEUE · HIGH

Dead-Letter Control

Failed work is isolated with reason, attempt count, correlation reference, and review state.

FAILURE
Poison message blocks queue or disappears silently
RECOVERY
Inspect, correct, replay, or disposition with authority
ORCHESTRATION · HIGH

Workflow Heartbeat

Long-running workflow instances emit liveness and progress signals.

FAILURE
Stalled work remains invisible
RECOVERY
Alert owner, inspect dependency, resume or route exception
EXPERIENCE · MEDIUM

Degraded Mode

Preserve safe read, queue, or alternate-path behavior without pretending normal health.

FAILURE
Total outage from noncritical dependency
RECOVERY
Restore full mode only after health criteria pass
SERVICE · HIGH

SLO / SLA Timer

Track objective consumption and surface burn before contractual or operational breach.

FAILURE
Late detection of service degradation
RECOVERY
Escalate, shed nonessential load, rebalance ownership, or activate continuity path
RECOVERY · CRITICAL

Controlled Replay

Replay requires correlation, idempotency protection, reason, and explicit disposition.

FAILURE
Unsafe manual rerun creates inconsistent state
RECOVERY
Re-execute from a known checkpoint with trace preservation

V78 + V79

Workflow now has a failure model.

V78 defined governed state progression. V79 defines what should happen when commands repeat, dependencies fail, queues poison, workflows stall, or recovery must replay work safely.

NEXT BUILD

V80 can normalize enterprise information architecture.

With interaction, workflow, and reliability planes established, V80 can normalize object taxonomy, workspaces, navigation, role pathways, commands, and deep-link semantics across the platform.
