Provenance
Where the item came from, and what the file itself records about its origin.
EVIDENCE AUTHENTICATION
Edited and synthetically generated material now reaches claim files routinely. We examine the evidence a decision rests on, document what can and cannot be established about it, and state the limits of each finding plainly.
MODLAN Systems, Inc. performs regulated investigative services only in jurisdictions where it holds the required licences. Inquiries from other jurisdictions are referred.
Where the item came from, and what the file itself records about its origin.
Whether the item shows indications of alteration after creation.
Whether the item is internally consistent with the claim, the timeline, and the other evidence.
How the item entered the file, and whether that path is documented.
Some cameras and phones now attach a signed record of an image's origin. Most do not. The absence of that record is not evidence that an image is fake — it usually means the device never wrote one.
And a record that is present proves provenance and integrity, not truth. It can establish that a file has not been altered since capture. It cannot establish that the loss happened, happened then, or happened there. We report both sides of that line.
DELIVERABLE
A written finding stating what was examined, what method was applied, what was established, what could not be established, and the confidence attached to each conclusion. Where a finding is inconclusive, it says so.
WHAT WE DO NOT DO
QUESTIONS
We examine provenance, integrity, and context and report what each supports. We do not publish a detection rate, and we do not treat a missing provenance record as proof of fabrication.
It is reported as inconclusive. That is a usable answer and an honest one.
Yes. Client-supplied media is the most common engagement.
CONTROLLED INTAKE
Public consultation channels are for business-purpose intake only. Claim files, medical records, credentials, claimant-identifying data, and evidence belong in an approved secure workflow.
